[7/31/06] The latest reign of small-cap outperformance peaked at 85 months in March, closing in on the
longest run of outperformance (small caps for 88 months from 1983-1990) since the creation of the Russell indices in 1978. As a result of the weakened relative performance, and not at all surprising, mutual fund flows have followed suit. The Leuthold Group estimates a $3.3 billion net outflow from small-cap equity funds in June, compared to a $1.2 billion net outflow in May.

three years ago.
